ScreenShooter
ScreenShooter v2.0.0
ScreenShooter reaches version 2!
Since the start of this freelancer focused project in November 2024 I've always seen collaboration as central in the Freelancer / Client experience. Reality hits hard though and due to massive projects incoming I decided over the next few months to focus on the local side of that equation (what became ScreenShooter) as I needed it more urgently for my own projects. ScreenShooter has always felt part-complete though, without the collaboration mechanism for the Freelancer / Client communication originally envisioned.
That changes today with the introduction of the WorkMaster platform and ScreenShooter Sync. WorkMaster is the missing piece for creating a collaborative platform that enhances and enables Freelancers to sync their projects, sessions and reports to WorkMaster so they can interact with their client's and share project status' securely.
WorkMaster opens in a private, invite-only beta today, launching to the public later this year as a paid platform. This will enable future development of ScreenShooter and other freelancer tools supported by the community,.
The sync feature is optional, disabled by default and ScreenShooter will always be "local first".
New Features
WorkMaster Sync
You're now able to sync your clients, projects and sessions with the remote WorkMaster platform to enable real time collaboration.
- Push your latest work and changes to the WorkMaster platform to enable client collaboration
- Pull the last changes from WorkMaster back to your local machine
- Enable cross-computer sync of your ScreenShooter clients, projects and sessions.
- Has to be explicitly enabled in settings (currently under private, invite-only beta)
Quality of Life / Stability
- New "extra menu" option accessible via 'e' on main interactive menu giving you access to previously cli-only modules of database, upgrade, backup and logs.
- New pre-migration warning encouraging backup of the database before any major changes to the database after updates.
